Floral Notes from Sweet Marie Designs:

Theme and style was intimate autumn dinner party with deep rich fall colors including wine colored blooms, Mustard yellow accents, touches of blush, and plentiful herbal elements. Being that the groom, James, is a chef, we made sure to incorporate as many herbal greens as possible. The list included fruiting olive, bay laurel, rosemary, sage, chives, wheat, and pepper berry. James claimed  “the unexpected is a positive” and I reminded myself of this over and over while designing their floral arrangements. One of my favorite moments as their floral designer was delivering the bouquet to Tomasina. She loves peonies and at that time of year they are not in season. The day we arrived in Carmel to design I found out that the vendor I had ship all the florals to the design location had two bunches of red charm peonies and they called to ask if I would like them. During the whole process Tomasina had been told there would not be any peonies and I had the lucky chance and opportunity to surprise her with them in her bouquet as I walked through the door. It was an amazing moment. Other than rare peonies, I used burgundy dahlias, astilbe, scabiosa, and astrantia. Kiera garden roses added a pop of blush while echinacea cones, golden amaranths, red pieris buds, chocolate cosmos, and succulents were place to add textural elements among the herbal green base. Being at Point Lobos Ridge Estate was like a dream. Literally it appeared as if the whole reception was floating along with the clouds. To this day it is one of the most unforgettable designs I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of.
