Hi Madeline, please introduce yourself.

My name is Madeline Gardner, Creative Director and Designer of Morilee. I have dedicated the last 25 years to creating beautiful dresses for beautiful brides and women around the world! I feel so lucky to have spent my career doing what I love.

How did you get your start as a designer?

From the young age of 12, I started experimenting with sewing. It was such a thrill to bring all my ideas to life. I loved letting my imagination run wild! I knew early on how strong my love was for designing.

What drew you to bridal?

With such a strong love for lace, it was hard to think of doing anything else! There are so many gorgeous options to choose from. From alençon to chantilly to eyelet, the unique details always inspire my love for designing.

What was your inspiration behind your Fall ’17 collections?

The Reflections Collections was truly a reflection of how we see ourselves. Whether it’s a mirror, a photo, a shadow glistening off the sun, I love to see the light and beauty through the details. There are so many beautiful and unique versions of us all. This collection really captures that special beauty we all have.

Which gowns are some of your personal favorite Fall ’17 styles, and why?

A few of my favorites are Meadow, with the floral three-dimensional embroidery, Mimi with the distinct pattern and soft shape. I think the tattoo lace detail on the back gives it something extra special. Mystique brings fairytales to life with its sparkle and romantic details. Mysteria is rich with detailed layers of lace and embroideries. Mariska brings together the modern ball gown with a touch of ethereal grace, and Melrose, which is a modern twist on a classic style. Its wide border along the hemline and flattering shape makes every bride feel her very best.

What trends are you most excited about for 2018?

I am always excited to let my taste, style, and designs evolve with each collection. With the upcoming 2018 line, the beauty is in the details. Intricate beading, deco inspired patterns, sultry back details, and of course, a few surprises for our classic romantic gowns.

What is a day in the life of Madeline Gardner like?

Busy, fun, never the same and always new. A successful day for me means discovering fresh and exciting fabrics, embroideries, and details. My design room in New York is my favorite place to get creative. Traveling and finding creativity in brand new places and spaces is another motivation for me! There is truly nothing better than helping to make my brides’ dreams come true!

Who is your muse?

The ever-changing, strong, heroic women I meet every day. They are the true inspiration behind my designs.

What are the advantages of being a bride in 2018 vs 1998?

Options! One of the best parts of my job is creating options for so many different brides. I like to think that there is really always something for everyone. Whether it’s in the fabric, the fit, or the style, every bride should be able to express her unique personality and individual sense of style. I love the opportunity to give all my brides an array of gowns to choose from. Nothing makes me happier than a bride who feels special in her Morilee/Madeline Gardner gown.

Describe the Morilee bride.

The Morilee/Madeline Gardner Bride is a woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. She is smart, sophisticated, unique, and most importantly confident. She knows that beauty comes from within, but a gorgeous dress won’t hurt either. Our brides appreciate the level of quality, fit, and detail that goes into all of our dresses.

Any advice for MODwedding brides?

Be yourself! MODwedding brides should enjoy this special time. Have fun playing dress up, and remember to stay true to your own sense of style. Most importantly, pick a gown that makes you feel every bit as beautiful, confident, and satisfied as you deserve to feel on your wedding day!
